Many times it may be hard for a family to find time to even spend time together. With the many events and tasks life throws our way, it may be necessary to plan days and hours in which reading will take place. It is crucial that both parents teach their children that reading is very important to their success in later life. With that being said, one of the best ways to make reading fun and interactive for kids is to have a reading day. Set aside one day of the week for playing games, reading stories, and just interacting. One fun idea is to have one person in the family each week select a story that they like. This can make reading much more fun for young children. Another idea is to play games which promote building vocabulary such as scrabble, etc. All in all, as you can see there are many ideas that you can play up on in order to promote family reading and make your children realize that reading is an important part of life. It is up to you as a family unit to decide which methods suit your hectic lifestyle and interest you the most.
